Council of Social Concern was founded in
1969 by a group of local volunteers who were
concerned about the needs of Woburn’s low-
income and minority families. Over the years,
CSC has grown in response to the needs of local
residents of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. CSC
programs assist over 2,200 individuals each year
from Woburn, Winchester, and beyond with the
support of approximately 250 volunteers.
CSC provides the following services that
focus on the needs of low-income and at-risk
populations. The
Children’s Center
is a
National Association for the Education of Young
Children-accredited childcare and early childhood
education facility, providing full time, year-round
care. The
Family Childcare System
offers
children early education and care in the homes
of EEC-licensed, independent Family Childcare
Educators. The
Parent Education Program
offers several 7-week sessions to help parents
enhance their parenting skills. The
Supervised
Visitation Program
provides a safe, neutral
environment where parents and children can
spend quality time together and reconnect.
The
Food Pantry Program
provides food
to individuals and families without adequate
financial resources to meet basic needs. CSC also
provides
Information & Referral
services.
